The Maple Street Bike Park is a volunteer driven project to build a professional, freestyle bike park in the heart of Essex Junction, VT. We are a group of volunteers from a wide range of ages and backgrounds working together for a common goal: to build the first freestyle bike park in Vermont fully integrated into a parks and recreation facility.

We plan to include two pump tracks and several dirt jump lines to provide an exciting and progressive riding experience for beginner through expert riders. We have unique wooded location at Maple Street Park that is adjacent to the skatepark. We received planning and zoning approval for the project in May of 2011 and plan to begin building in Spring 2012.

peopleThe core values of our committee are community engagement including local youth, a commitment to building high quality features and creating a culture of inclusion and teaching.

  • INSPIRE : Inspire others to get involved and share the dream to make it a reality
  • RESPECT : Respect yourself, your neighbors, and the process
  • TEACH : Share your knowledge with others and enjoy the ride!

Thanks to our committed partner organizations and sponsors tracksqsmwe are off to a great start. If you are interested in getting involved, please contact us for volunteer and sponsorship opportunities and make sure to check back for updates and progress as we move forward!

who we are...Kahlil Zaloom

kahlilbio"I have been riding bikes of all styles for the past 27 years, building trails for the past 7 and working on this project as co-chair for a year and a half. I started racing BMX when I was 11 and after years of racing mountain bikes I started looking for new riding experiences.  At 35 I came back to my roots and began riding street, skateparks and dirt jumps, only this time on bigger wheels.
I believe strongly in the ethic of working for what you want and this project has been a lot of work but has taught me a ton of lessons. I am super excited with the opportunity to bring this park to our town and grateful to have the support of a  progressive parks and rec department like EJRP as well as the support of Essex CHIPS and VMBA!
Thanks to all of the great volunteers and sponsors for their commitment!"

I got involved with the Maple Street Bike Park project back in February of 2010, and am now the Co-Chair of the committee.
